This is a translation/rewrite of one of my favorite novels by the same name: 対滅.

It was true love the moment I read it, even though it was via machine translation software. Because of this love, I wanted to translate it into English and I wanted to stay accurate to the original, which I felt was already perfect, merely cleaning up the translation.

This... did not happen. The machine translation was about 9K words, and my English rewrite ended at 21366 words...!

I am unsure whether it is classified as a translation or a rewrite, and this made it awkward when I wanted to translate it, so I could share the work I was proud of. Since it was so heavily based on the original, following the same plot and the same emotional notes, it felt disrespectful. Yet at the same time, I poured a lot of my own creative flair into the story, shaping the characters into my own version of them. I think the original product is something not entirely my own, yet it isn't a soulless copy either.

With this in mind, I translated it into Chinese, but not Japanese, in which the original was written. I want to share the original story and my unique take on it with new readers, but I don't want to overstep... as I am still waiting for the original author to reply to my messages and initial request. I can only hope that my compromise doesn't appear as rude!
