In 2022, Ming-Hsing city held its first "National Beauty Pageant", open to all female residents between the ages of 18 and 24. The contest not only evaluated the appearance and body shape of the candidates but also included a talent and cultural assessment. More than 1,000 people entered the competition, and a panel of jurors selected the ten finalists after a months-long selection process. The committee then published the photos and CVs of the ten in the press, before the public voted for the final winner.

The champion would not only receive a substantial prize but would also become a star and earn the opportunity to represent well-known companies in advertising campaigns. However, the rules of the competition also stipulate that the contestants who finish in second to tenth place would be subject to execution, with their bodies made into assorted specimens to enrich the collection of the local university's recently expanded anatomical specimen collection.

Encouraged by her friends and family, Liting, who was approaching the age limit at the time, participated in the competition. Thanks to her warm personality and voluptuous figure, she finished ninth in the final round of voting.

Liting did not want to be executed. After discussions with Vinogradova, who ranked tenth in the contest, she filed a request for administrative review with the Administrative Remedy Department of the Justice Department of Ming-Hsing City Council, hoping that the department would declare the order to execute her void.

After submitting the administrative review application, Liting lived her life with daily anxieties. She received frequent news that more and more of the girls who participated in the contest with her (Yan, Huijun, Eisenberg, Tao, etc.) had been executed in different methods. In an attempt to gain public sympathy, she and Vinogradova participated in various events and even modelled for a wall chart on "Acupuncture points in traditional Chinese medicine" published by the University's medical school, posing nude in the photographs.

All these efforts were to no avail, and in the afternoon of 9 June 2023, Liting received an official letter from the head of administrative remedies, stating that her application had been rejected, and that a coroner from the Ming-Hsing Public Mortuary, Dr. Zhang Taihe, and a policewoman would go to her home in the early morning of the following day, where she would be taken to the execution ground and hanged, and her body made into a specimen.

In the face of the sudden bad news, Liting sat down in a huddle. "Is this the end of my life? Am I going to be dangling in mid-air and suffocating, while being incontinent and pissing all over the place before I die?" She thought to herself, "I will be stripped naked and lay on a metal slab to be inspected, and then made into a naked specimen, to be viewed by everyone." She didn't dare to think further.

"Instead of dying a painful death, it would be better to end it early and say goodbye to the world at home." she thought to herself. She opened the cupboard and found the pills Vinogradova had bought on the black market. "If our appeals fail, this can help us sleep eternally." Vinogradova once told Liting.

After much hesitation, Liting decided to die that night. She wanted to leave the world in a clean, dignified manner, so she took a shower and changed into the lace nightdress that she only wore when her boyfriend came to spend the nights with her. She unlocked the entrance door of her room so that it could be pushed open from the outside. Afterwards, she took the pills with determination and got into bed and waited for the effects to kick in.

Before long, Liting's consciousness began to fade. She struggled to support her upper body and looked in the direction of the door. "It's going to be a busy place when they come in tomorrow..." she said to herself. Soon after, she convulsed a few times, exhaled her last breath, and died peacefully in her bed.

Early next morning, Dr. Zhang and policewoman Rou arrived at Liting's home on time. As there was no answer to their door knocks, Dr. Zhang pushed open the door of Liting's room. Seeing the seemingly sleeping Liting, Dr. Zhang went to her bedside and tried to wake her up. However, by the bedside, Dr. Zhang smelled the odour of urine, and an ominous premonition arose in his heart. "Liting! Liting! Dr. Zhang yelled. He then put his finger under Liting's nose to check if she was still breathing. After feeling no sign of breath, he touched Liting's shoulder and found that her body was already cold.

Dr. Zhang lifted up Liting's duvet and laid it to the side. Liting's eyes were closed tightly, her body twisted, and there were traces of urine on the sheet underneath her. She was barely clothed, and her left breast had slipped out of her nightgown in the final convulsions before she died.

After taking a few photos of the scene, Dr. Zhang said to the policewoman, "I'm going downstairs to get some tools, can you please tidy up the body and put it on the floor? After I've done a quick examination, we'll transport her back to the mortuary".

The policewoman then grabbed the body's legs and tried to lift it up. However, her's limited strength and Liting's voluptuous figure made it impossible for her to move the body. She then dragged the body off the bed, causing Li-ting's head to fall heavily onto the ceramic tiled floor and her nightgown to curled up.

When Dr. Zhang returned, he bent down and pressed his right hand on Liting's left breast. The cold touch and the absence of a heartbeat made him realise that Li-ting was indeed dead. He saw the pills on the bedside table and suspected that Liting had died of poisoning, so he took several swabs and extracted secretions from Li-ting's nose, mouth, urethra, vagina and anus. When separating Li-ting's labia, Dr. Zhang found that Liting's sphincter muscles were completely relaxed, so that the cotton swabs could even be inserted into Liting's urethra.

Dr Chang then loaded the body onto a van and, together with the policewoman, went to the home of Vinogradova, whose application for administrative review had also been rejected, and took her back to the mortuary.

Before processing Liting's body, Dr. Zhang and policewoman Rou needed to execute Vinogradova. Due to the unexpected situation at Liting's place, their original plan was completely disrupted, leaving them insufficient time to take Vinogradova to the execution centre. Dr. Zhang suggested: "We need to execute her alone anyway, so why don't we strangle her here in the yard? He then found a rope and instructed the policewoman to tie Vinogradova's hands in front of her body with duct tape and wrap the rope around Vinogradova's neck. As Dr. Zhang exerted more and more force, Vinogradova's trousers quickly became soaked with urine, and she soon stopped struggling and fell limp on the floor, dead.

Despite its urban location, and various residential buildings around the mortuary, the mortuary's courtyard is often used as an execution site. From the windows of some buildings nearby, residents can even see what is going on inside the yard. For this reason, Dr. Zhang did not remove Vinogradova's trousers before strangling her, thereby preserving some dignity for her as she passed away.

Vinogradova's body was then dragged into the building and placed on a body tray. Her trousers were removed and her lower body covered with a blue cloth. Liting's nightdress was also stripped off and replaced by a blue cloth to cover her genital area.

Dr. Liu Guofeng also came to work at the mortuary, and Dr. Zhang handed over the two bodies to him. "This is Wang Liting, the ninth-place winner of the beauty contest at the time. When I went to her flat in the morning, I found her dead at home, and I suspected that she had taken poison," Dr. Zhang said. This is Vinogradova, the tenth-place winner. It was too late to be transported to the execution centre, so Rou and I executed her in the backyard." Dr. Zhang said.

After the introduction, Dr. Zhang went off duty. Dr. Liu prepared the necessary tools for the postmortem examination and pushed Liting's body onto the autopsy table. After taking the necessary photographs, he began his examination of the body. He first lifted up Liting's limbs to check for rigor mortis and found that the body was still relatively soft. He then turned the body over and inserted a thermometer into her anus. Li-ting's body was twisted and her breasts dropped to the side. "With such breasts, it's no wonder she got the ninth place." Dr. Liu said to himself.

While waiting for the results of the measurements, Dr. Liu pushed Vinogradova into the autopsy room. "No assistant today? That's a lot of work." Dr. Liu felt depressed. After pushing Vinogradova's body onto the other autopsy table, Dr. Liu placed a plastic block under Liting's head and shone a violet light on her whole body to check for signs of sexual abuse.
